We Know...

We Know how you felt the day you got the diagnosis. We Know how you grieve for the life you had invisioned for your child. We Know how it feels as each milestone is missed. We Know how you feel spending days on end at doctor and therapist appointments. We Know how it feels to not feel like anyone is listening. We Know how it feels when people marvel in how strong you are, when you don't feel so strong. We Know how it feels to make decisions in the best interest of your child even if it goes against what is in your heart, because you just want them safe. We Know how it feels to put on a smiling face, but on the inside you just want to scream and/or break down and cry. We Know how it feels when people stare. We Know how it feels to be given advice by people who have no idea. We Know how it feels to fight for your child's education, their right. We Know how you feel isolated. We Know how it feels to loose friends who you thought would always be there. We know how it can strain even the best marriages. We Know how it feels when your child passes on. We Know how it feels when your child masters a skill, no matter how small. We Know how it feels to look into your child's eyes, they touch your soul. We Know how it feels to hold your child and they sink into your arms. We Know how it feels to see the world from your child's eyes, so innocent. We Know you learn more from your child then they could ever learn from you. We Know how you love your child more then your own life.

WE KNOW YOU ARE NOT ALONE...

Special Parents for Special Kids is a parent led support group. We would love to meet you. We meet every second Thursday of the month at the Easter Seals 212 Barney Dr. Joliet, IL from 6pm-8pm. We provide on-site childcare sponsored by United Cerebral Palsy. Meetings can include guest speakers, but most importantly a room full of support by parents who know, to help you navigate down this path...sprinkled with laughter.
